Young EDAC is an international platform where young arbitration practitioners under the age of 40 can join to improve their understanding of arbitration and the legal practice, meet fellow arbitration practitioners/enthusiasts, and build and become part of an international community of individuals interested in energy related disputes. The Young EDAC Mentorship Program is the jewel of Young EDAC. The Program, which is organized biannually, provides the young lawyers, who wish to specialize in arbitration, with the unique opportunity to learn from the experiences of the mentors, who are experts in international arbitration. International Energy Arbitration Moot (Watt Settle)
The Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (EDAC) proudly presents Watt Settle: International Energy Arbitration Moot (Watt Settle), a premier Energy Arbitration Competition designed to engage and challenge participants in the dynamic field of energy dispute resolution. As a platform hosted by EDAC, the Watt Settle invites teams comprised of undergraduate law students and graduate students (holding an undergraduate law degree) from various universities, and legal practitioners of maximum one year of experience to navigate and resolve hypothetical energy arbitration disputes.
In the spirit of fostering practical legal skills and promoting a comprehensive understanding of energy arbitration, the Watt Settle will require participants to tackle simulated disputes in accordance with the established rules and principles of energy law and arbitration. The competition aims to provide a unique opportunity for participants to apply their legal knowledge to realistic scenarios, enhancing their understanding of energy-related legal issues.
EDAC’s Watt Settle is not just a competition; it is an initiative to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application in the realm of energy disputes. By bringing together aspiring legal professionals and experienced practitioners in the field of energy arbitration, the competition seeks to create a vibrant learning environment.
The mission of the Watt Settle extends beyond the competition itself. It strives to cultivate a network of communication among law students and young practitioners with an interest in energy law and arbitration. This initiative is geared towards empowering the next generation of legal professionals with a strong foundation in the intricacies of energy dispute resolution and facilitating meaningful connections with experts in the field.
The rules and timeline for Watt Settle will be released imminently. We encourage duly follow-up of our communication channels (Young EDAC website and social media accounts) to stay tuned.
